I’ve written before about the roller coaster that is building a farm from scratch. Some days I look around at how far we’ve come, others I dread how far there is left to go. It’s expensive, demanding, stressful, frustrating, and at times dangerous. It’s also the single most gratifying work I’ve ever encountered.
The learning curve is steep and the demands rigid. Some days are so long it seems like the clock has stopped while we’ve worked. But the beauty is constant and the rewards innumerable.
We’ve started site work on a new hog barn. I never imagined this is where it’d all lead when we began. I never imagined this is where it’d all lead as recently as a few years ago, but here we are.
This girl brings bacon into the world.
